Never take too much notice of emotions that come up with the seasons, it’s supposed to be that way
Philippa 50 and recently widowed. She has two children. Passionate opera singer and gardener.
How are you?
Since starting this year I am moving in the right direction. I have a great life ahead of me. The time I had with my husband is untouchable, it’s in a box and I can open it anytime I want to.
What’s your most memorable experience?
I was on a train heading to Croydon when my phone went - it was my husband. I knew something was wrong. He was in HOMEBASE - he wasn't well. He had a heart attack and died. I couldn't get off the train - I knew I couldn't get there. That was the last time we spoke.
What brings you down?
Nothing that brings me down keeps me down. It’s ok to have a bad day just try not to repeat it. There’s always tomorrow and I get comfort from that. I do half full to brimming over.
How do yo feel about the weather?
My Mum used to say 'never take too much notice of emotions that come up with the seasons, it’s supposed to be that way'.
What do you think about life?
Life is good - it’s about renewal. It’s about relationships, emotional companionships - you cannot do life in isolation. You've got to have love in it. I should be married and I probably will be again one day. The home environment is hugely important in emotional development and having a sense of community around you helps your existence - it helps you grow in your own spirit. There was a quote on the today programme that said, 'If you can’t find human love, get a puppy'.
